Others researching Olena may be confused by entries found for her b irth date. The original birth certificate issued by South Dakota wa s a "Delayed" document from June 26, 1942. It incorrectly states he r birth date as August 1, 1903. Olena's Christening Certificate issue d by the church in Elbow Lake, Minnesota on June 29, 1904 states the c orrect birth date as August 21, 1903. This researcher personally help ed Olena celebrate her birthday on several August 21s. She told that s he was born in the small town of White Rock, SD. Her delayed birth ce rtificate stated she was born in the even smaller town of Vernon. Sinc e both small towns are close in proximity it is a probable fact that s he was born at home on the farm that was located between the two. A 19 00 plat map may show the Haner land in Roberts County, ND. 2. To better describe White Rock, SD a small news article was found o n 3/31/2008 at www.kxnet.com. This article, (copyright 2007 by the As sociated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 12-01-07 1208CST is title d "Small town almost gone. WHITE ROCK, S.D. (AP) White Rock, Sout h Dakota a tiny town 11 miles north of Rosholt near the North Dakota b order is just about gone. Earlier this week, Augustina Lutheran Chu rch in White Rock was moved to the threshing bee grounds in Rosholt . The 20-member congregation, former members and their children donat ed $30,000 to pay for the move. Services now will be held at the Rosh olt location. Rudy Rodrigues, who says he's the mayor of White Rock , says he will miss the church lights. The 70-year-old man has bee n in White Rock for 15 years. The funeral hom e providing the service was Seattle Jewish Chapel. Note: This research er attended a family "wake" held at Lynn and Bill Sebring's home in B ellevue, WA to celebrate Olena's life shortly after her death.
