Jean C. Hoff, 75, 314 W. Beech, died Monday, Nov. 4, at his residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at Federated Church, Fergus Falls. Rev. C. Edward Morgan will officiate, and burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
The son of Henry and Mary (Weiby) Hoff, he was born March 13,1910, in Tordenskjold Township, where he also grew up and attended School District No. 21. In 1928, he graduated from Fergus Falls High School.
Mr. Hoff and Gayle E. Howe were married May 28, 1939, in Decorah, Iowa.
He worked for Gambles for 19 years, working in and managing stores in various cities. He worked for the company in Fergus Falls from 1944 to 1947. In 1947, he and his brother, Alan, established Hoff Brothers Implement Company and sold International Harvester farm equipment. He later owned and operated the Sweet Shoppe and was co-founder of Jenoff Inc., both of Fergus Falls. Although he was semi-retired, he worked at Fergus Hardware Compay for several years. Mr. Hoff was a former city council member and past president of the Chamber of Commerce. He was currently a member of Birak Shrine Club of the Masonic Lodge, Golden Kiwanis, Fergus Falls Elks Club, Fergus Falls Fish & Game Club and the Federated Church of Fergus Falls.
Survivors include his wife Gayle; two daughters, Marilyn Hoff of Santa Fe, Calif., and Sylvia Robson of Bloomington; one son, Peter of Fergus Falls; six grandchildren; one sister, Claryce Hoff of Maple Grove; and one brother, Henry of Dalton.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls and resume at the church one hour prior to services Thursday.
