John T. Olson, 70, Fergus Falls Route 6, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, at Fergus Falls State Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Sarpsborg Lutheran Church, rural Dalton. Rev. Merle Fagerberg will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
One of four children of Carl and Anna S. (Jonsson) Olson, he was born July 29, 1913, in Dane Prairie Township, Otter Tail County. He grew up in Dane Prairie Township and was baptized and confirmed in Sarpsborg Church. After graduating from Northwestern College of Fergus Falls in 1930, he continued to farm in Dane Prairie Township.
On June 17,1939, he married Verna Kugler in Fairmount, N.D. They resided on his farm in Dane Prairie Township. Besides farming, he also welded for Dieseth Construction, retiring from there in 1978. He was the former owner of Swan Lake Resort.
He was a past member of the Township Board and was involved in his church as a deacon, trustee and sexton of the cemetery. His interests included hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Verna Olson; brother, Rudolph 0. of Underwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and all day Friday at Olson Funeral Home of Fergus Falls and resume at the church one hour prior to services Saturday.
