The Sebeka Review, November 6, 1957 Funeral Services November 6 For Oscar Torgerson Oscar Torgerson, well known and pioneer resident of Cass County; who lived east of Nimrod, passed away on Friday, November 1, following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, November 6 at 1:30 o'clock P.M. at Calvary Baptist church in Ansel township with Rev. Kenneth Bielby offciating. The Sebeka Review, November 13, 1957 Sketch of Life of Oscar Torgerson Oscar Torgerson was born September 9, 1896, at Henning, Minnesota and passed away Friday, November 1, 1957 at his home in Ansel township at the age of 61. He moved with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tollef Torgerson, to their homestead in Ansel township, Cass County, when he was six years old. He lived at home most of the time until his marriage to Mabel Wilson in 1925, when he moved to his own farm, also in Ansel, where he lived until the time of his death. Oscar served as treasurer of Ansel Township School Board for several years. Funeral service for this respected citizen was held Wednesday, November 6th, at the Calvary Baptist church with Rev. Kenneth Bielby of Brainerd officiating. Mrs. Richard Lonn of Brainerd sang, "Beyond the Sunset," and "If We Could See Beyond Today," with Mrs. Henry Olson of Brainerd as accompanist. Pallbearers were Julius Skaar, Ray Rothwell, Charlie Rothwell, Walter Farnum, Floyd Farr and Morris Kuschel. Interment was in the McKinley cemetery. He leaves to mourn, his wife, Mabel; sons, Calvin and Rolly (U.S. Army); and daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Frazier, Cincinatti, Ohio; and grandsons, James and Mark Frazier. Also sisters, Mrs. Grover McLaughlin (Bertina), Plaza, N. Dakota; Mrs. Charlie Rentas (Thea), Minneapolis; Mrs. Howard Henne (Margaret), Hibbing; and brothers, Thorwald Torgerson, Detroit, Michigan; Al Torgerson, Henning, Minn.; Gus Torgerson, Motley, Minn.; and Clarence Torgerson, Heleah, Florida; and a host of friends. Those attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Torgerson, Barrett Torgerson, Melvin Nyberg, Mr. and Mrs. Al Torgerson and Mrs. Orris Wallevand all of Henning. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Christenson, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Lind and girls, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Simpson, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Simpson, Gaylord Daniels, all of Duluth. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Schermerhorn, Calumet, Minn.; and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wilson of Pengelly, Minn. Mrs. George Rentas, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Rothwell, Mrs. Jeanette Steinkraus, Miss Inez Olson, and Miss Gertrude Olson of Brainerd.
