Iona Nelson"Leaves 118 DescendantsMrs. Iona Viana Nelson, widow of William Henry Nelson, of Maine township, died Monday morning at the Lake Region Hospital, as reported in Monday's Journal.
Mrs. Nelson's maiden name was Iona Viana Jenne. She was born Aug. 29, 1875 at Zumbrota, the daughter of Dorcus and Chillis Jenne. She was married to William Henry Nelson Aug. 28, 1897. SHe lived on the home farm in Maine for forty-nine years. Mr. Nelson preceded his wife in death Oct. 9, 1946.
Mrs. Nelson leaves 118 living descendants, including ten children--four sons--Harry of Alberta, Canada; Arthur of Gobel, Ore.; Oliver of Oregon and Philip of California; six daughters--Mrs. Milton (Minnie) Leeman, Maine; Mrs. Wm. (Sylvia) Kiser, Hillsboro, Ore.; Mrs. Frank (Millicent) Kiser, Wisconsin; Mrs. Laurence (Alice) Laney, St.. Paul; Mrs. Herman (Lila) Lange, Dent; Mrs. Reno (Jennie) Dahl. She also leaves three stepchildren, Iva Barns, Bellingham, Wash.; William of Alberta, Canada; and Charley of Bellingham; one brother, Willis Jenne of McMinnville, Ore.; and two sisters, Mrs. Edith Olson, Fargo and Mrs. Joe Corey, Portland, Ore.
Mrs. Nelson was a member of the Maine Presbyterian church, a kindly, thoughtful woman, devoted to her family. She was also adept at handwork and a great lover of flowers, taking a pride in her flower garden. She will be sadly missed in the family circle.
Funeral services are to be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Maine Presbyterian church. Friends may call the Gerhart Mortuary in Fergus Falls."
