RIPE OLD AGE OF EIGHTY-FOUR YEARS! He had not been strong for years, but death seemed sudden to all. A retired farmer and good citizen. The word was sadly passed around this morning that Knudt Julson had quietly breathed his last at 4:15 a. m., July 18th, 1907, aged 84 years, 3 months and 23 days. Knudt Julson was born in Valders, Norway, March 25th, 1823. He emigrated to America in 1848, locating in Dane county, Wis., in which locality he lived for thirty-eight years. In 1861, he was united in marriage to Julia Olson, the wife who survives him. Together with their children, they removed to Lake Preston in 1886, locating upon the farm joining the city to the south-east, which place they purchased. There they resided until health seemed to make it advisable to take life easier. They then purchased residence property and moved into Lake Preston. A quiet contented life has since been their lot, their son, Otto, and daughter, Caroline, the only unmarried children, living with them. Mr. Julson was in frail health, so it is not strange that disease took a firm hold of him. He was taken to his bed a week ago Monday, the doctors announcing that kidney trouble, from which he had suffered more or less for a long time, together with old age, were the causes of death. He was a good citizen and neighbor, one whose example in life thousands even in this locality could follow with profit to families and friends. Besides the bereaved wife, one brother, James Julson, of Flandreau, one sister, Mrs. Erik Smedsrude, of Hollandale, Wis., and seven children (one having died in infancy), two sons and five daughters, mourn the loss of a faithful friend and companion. The children are John O. Julson, Otto A. Julson, Miss Caroline Julson and Mrs. Ben O. Strand, of Lake Preston, Mrs. Wm. Johnson, of Douglas, N.D., Mrs. Ben M. Julson of Flandreau, and Mrs. H.C. Michaelson, of Turtle Lake, Wis. It is hoped that the children may all be present at the funeral, which will be held from the Lutheran church, Saturday, at 10 o'clock a. m., conducted by Rev. W. B. Dahl, and the burial will take place in the Lake Preston cemetery.
