Lawrence Johnson, 72, Kent, died at his residence on July 19,1993, following a long illness. He was born Sept. 2, 1920, at Douglas, N.D., and had been a local resident for 39 years, coming from Spokane. He had been a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, working in Kent for 19 years. He retired in 1984. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He married Lorraine B. Ostby on Dec. 22, 1945, in Minot, N.D. An avid mechanic and auto buff, he also enjoyed playing billiards. He was a member of the Panther LakeCommunity Church. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine, of the family home; a son, David L. Johnson of Othello; two daughters, Barbara Sloan of Maple Valley and Bonnie Rerecich of Renton; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Friday at Ediine-Yahn Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, also at EdIine-Yahn Chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Burial Park, Kent.
