"Patriarch George Alma Peart, one of the well-known church men in Utah, died Saturday at 2:45 p.m., at the residence 363 Thirty-fourth street, following a short illness. He had not been confined to his bed and was seemingly enjoying fair health until he was suddenly stricken. He was born in Jackson County, Missouri, January 21, 1844, and was the son of Jacob and Phoebe Thompson Peart. He came to Utah when a boy of five years. He moved at the age of 20 years to Randolph and Rich County and was one of the first settlers in that part of the state. He was married to Jane McPhail at Salt Lake August 1-, 18--. He had lived in Rich County with his family most of his life, having come to Ogden three years ago. He was Sunday school superintendent at Randolph for 2- years. Later he became stake Sunday school supervisor of Woodruff stake. He was a high councilman in the same stake. He had filled with honor nearly every position, in the Latter Day Saint church in the ward jurisdiction. He was well known in Rich and Weber counties, and in Evanston where he resided for some few years. He was an active worker in civic affairs.

He is survived by his widow and following children: Mrs. Sarah Jane South, Ogden; Mrs. Katie Snowball, Ogden; Mrs. Mae Brough, Randolph; Jacob W. Peart, Salt Lake; John M. Peart, Evanston, WY and Alma N. Peart, Jr. of Ogden; 37 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Also two brothers, Benjamin Peart of Richmond and Leander Peart of Draper. Funeral arrangements are in charge of Lindquist's Undertakers and announcements will be made later." - Ogden Standard Examiner (Sunday, June 10, 1923)
