Deloris' brother's obituary --- www.minotdailynews.com Robert ‘Bud’ Sandstrom Dec. 20, 1926-Feb. 7, 2013 February 10, 2013 Mi not Daily News Robert "Bud" Sandstrom, 86, Minot, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 7, 20 13, in a Minot health center, surrounded by his loving family. Bud ha d been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2011. Robert Gordon Sandstrom was born Dec. 20, 1926, the son of John and Es ther (Nelson) Sandstrom, in Minot. He attended Foxholm School for thre e years when his family purchased a farm near Lonetree, where he recei ved his education. Bud was baptized and confirmed at the First Luthera n Church of Minot. In 1946 he joined the Navy and was stationed in San Diego. He was hono rably discharged. In 1947 he was united in marriage to Morva Baker i n Minneapolis. They made their home on the family farm near Lonetree . Bud loved the land and the farm animals. He always had dogs, which h e loved. He was a very friendly person with a good sense of humor. Mor va passed away after a long illness on April 3, 2000. In 2001, Robert married Mavis Savig, whom he had known for years. The y made their home in Minot, but Bud still spent a lot of time at the f arm, which he still called home. Bud and Mavis went on several bus tri ps, which they enjoyed a lot. Robert was a collector of old cars, trucks, antiques and much more, wh ich he kept on the farm at Lonetree. He also had a fully-equipped ol d schoolhouse, which originated in 1887. It was the first country scho ol in Ward County restored and has been donated to the Ward County His torical Society. The last few years were hard for him, because of his declining health , but he kept a positive attitude and always hoped for the best. He ha d many friends and will be deeply missed. Robert was a 60-year member of the Minot American Legion Post #26. H e was also a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles Aerie, First Lutheran C hurch and an associate member of the Bread of Life Lutheran Church, al l Minot. Robert is survived by: his wife Mavis, Minot; niece, Shelly (James) Da niels, Minot; nephew, Jim (Bernadette) Ehlers, Kenmare; stepdaughter , Lisa Rasmusson, Minot; stepsons, Mark Rasmusson and David Rasmusson , both of Minot; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren ; great-nieces and great-nephews, Cindy (Ron) Rittenhour, Tami (Mike ) Kovh, Danielle (Chad) Prescott, Dawn (Neil) Prescott, Becky (George ) Jarman, Jesse Daniels, Robert Ehlers, Kelvin (Terri) Daniels, and nu merous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Morva; parents, John and E sther; sister, Deloris Ehlers; infant brother, LeRoy; nieces, Darlen e Lovo and Pat Dodgen; stepdaughter, Gayle Werre; and several great-ni eces and nephews. Funeral: Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Bread of Life Lutheran C hurch, Minot. Visitation: Monday, Feb. 11, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funer al Home, Minot.
