Frederick Charles Young Sr.

Frederick was the son of George and Mary Hunter Young.
He attended the University of Iowa for 4 yrs and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He then remained at the university for five years as an instructor.
He married Helen S. Ordway, whom he met while they were both studying at the University of Iowa, in her home town at Glens Falls NY state.
Frederick and family moved to Waterloo Iowa where he joined in a partnership with Stanley D. Moore, forming the company Moore-Young Construction Company. Their company laid the first paved road in Iowa, called "Rainbow Drive." By all that has been written about Frederick, he was a young man of sterling character, with outstanding capabilities, as an engineer, far beyond his young age.
He entered WWI commissioned with the rank of Captain, went overseas as commander in the engineering corps., and was discharged as a Major. They had twin sons, Frederick Jr. and Gerald Ordway Young. Frederick Jr. died in infancy.
