Mrs. Alvin (Laura) Hoff, 61, 503 W. Spruce, formerly of Aastad Township, died Saturday, Sept. 10, at Lake Region Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Aastad Lutheran Church, with Rev. David Holte officiating. Burial will be in Aastad Cemetery.
One of two children, she was born Feb. 3,1922, Elmo Township, Otter Tail County, the daughter of Carl and Nettie (Knutson) Mellan. She attended Henning High School, graduating in 1940. Next, after she attended St. Cloud Teachers College, she taught rural schools at Star Lake, Western Township and School District #1468.
On June 20,1948, she and Alvin N. Hoff were married in Aastad Lutheran Church. After their marriage, they lived in Aastad Township for 33 years.
She worked at the Big Chief Cafe for 10 years and recently at the YMCA with the Senior Citizens program.
Shortly after her husbands death, on May 4,1981, she moved to Fergus Falls and has resided there since.
She was a member of Aastad Lutheran Church, the churches A.L.C.W., circles and a Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. James (Betty) Bergerud, Fergus Falls; one son, Roger Hoff of Wahpeton; five grandchildren; and one brother, Melvin Mellan of Bovey.
Visitation at the Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, begins Monday evening, continues all day Tuesday and resumes one hour prior to services at the church.
