Rød In Book III - containing information about locations on Selbustrand: Pages 340-342 contain historical information about Balstadjardet that is a cotter's place under Balstad. As mentioned above, the first owner of this land was Ola Eriksen (1782-1862) and he occupied it between 1808-1837. In 1806, Ola married Ingeborg Svensdatter (b.1782-d.1851) from the farm Velve Nordigarden. They had five children and their oldest was son Erik Olsen (b.1806-d.1871). See #1 on page 341. Son Erik Olsen would marry Goro/Guri Arnsdatter Nervik (b.1808-d.1898) and she was born on the Framigarden. Erik and Goro were married in 1828 and took over Balstadjardet in the years 1838-1898). They had nine children. Their second oldest, a daughter named Gunhild Eriksdatter was born in 1832 (see #2). Gunhild would marry Ole Pedersen (also called Ola Persen) from the Grøtte farm in 1854 and they would work the Skreddar Haugen (Tailor's Hill) until they left for America. See Page 206.
Ola blev gift med Ingeborg Svensdatter, datter af Sven Mikkelsen og Berit Tomasdatter, i 1806. (Ingeborg Svensdatter blev født i 1782 i Velve Nordigarden, Norge og døde i 1851.)
