Services were held Sunday, February 2, 2003, at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake with Rev. Lewin Clefisch officiating. Burial was in the Ness Cemetery. When you see this picture, please help celebrate Violet's life! Due to an accident, the greatest cook in the world is no longer with us. Her sidekick, great grandson Ronnie, is helping her do the dishes. He loved her, played with her, and he would eat four of her homemade buns at a time. His sister, Mikayla, was also a favorite of mother's. Her life revolved around her family: grandchildren, Craig, Teressa, and Jessica. They had a special Hawaiian themed birthday party for her last year. Her daughter-in-law, Jeanne, was just as important to her as I was. Her two living brothers, Arnold Ehlers and John Ehlers, were always a big help to her. Mother, as well as my father and brother, lived a life of loving and caring for others. She volunteered to make hundreds of doughnuts for the firemen bingo. She was active in Auxiliary, she had worked in the Barrett school as a cook, and she worked in several restaurants in Barrett. She painted apartments for HUDD and the Westroms. She made treats for the school children and the teachers. She volunteered to come into the classroom to help the students with their studies. She helped with all the holiday parties. She read all my school information, so she would be current on what all the changes are in education. I told her she was getting smarter every day and she agreed with me. People like my mother make the world a better place. She will be missed.
