Ane Kristense Pedersen Nielsen Endicott.
(Ane's headstone only shows her last name the same as her 1st husband rather than the husband who was married to her at her death).
Ane Kristense Pedersen & her husband Peter (Peder) Christian Nielsen immigrated from Jylland, Denmark to New York State (port of N.Y.) 5th of April 1912 on SS "United States". They had Danish families living in Portland where their first born, Ellen Magda Nielsen was born in July 1912, shortly after their arrival from Denmark. The family wanted to purchase tickets on the Titanic but it was sold out so they came on another passage a little ahead of the Titanic. Soon the family settled in Prosser, Washington where Peter work at the Yakima Co-op Creamery. In Washington, their second child Feldborg Antonus was born in 1914.
While at work, Peter suddenly became ill & was rushed to a hospital in Yakima where he died--some said from a bursted appendix. When he died March 13, 1916 he left a widow with two small children, Ellen & Feldborg "Fie", less than a mo. before their third child's birth,Petra Kristine "Amy" who was born 2 April 1916.
Ane & her two older children spent some time in Florida with other Nielsen families before returning to Portland. Ane again headed for Denmark with her two older children to leave them with family members so that they could attend school in Denmark while Ane returned to Portland where she hoped to find a way to support her youngest, baby Petra who had remained in Portland with family members until her mother's return.
When Ellen & Fie finished school in Denmark, Ane again returned to Denmark to retrieve these children & return to Portland.
Ane married for the 2nd time to Leslie Endicott shortly before her death at the young age of 39. (Oregon Death Index: Ane Endicotte d. 27 Mar 1933 Cert. #66. spouse Leslie.)
